A Very Old Man

My man-child husband is celebrating another birthday (46) today. Without me. He's out of town. Again. I did send him several text messages giving him a hard time about being so old and having such a young wife. I know I'll pay for it when my birthday rolls around. If he can remember. LOL!
So my house is empty, and I'm nearing the finishline on a few garments I've been working on. Since I have no one to take photos, I was considering picking up a tripod. Any tips on buying one or using it? Taking photos is normally a 3 person job at my house. One person to work the camera, one to keep Lola busy so she doesn't try to get in the photo, and one more (me) to concentrate really hard on looking as cute as possible.

Round Trip

Stop the roller coaster ride! I want off!
I'm back! So many have sent such sweet e-mails and I want you all to know how much I have appreciated them.

Short version: for probably two years we have been wrestling with the idea of moving out of Florida. An opportunity arose to move to Chattanooga, Tennessee where we could be near my family. So we jumped. We were in limbo for quite some time deciding when would be the best time to go. I saw that the uncertainty was becoming very stressful for the kids, so the three of us moved on up there and Jeff was to join us when he had wrapped up the loose ends at his job. Got the kids up there and enrolled in school (which was an adventure that I'll save for another post). We were beginning to get settled and Jeff calls one day and says job situation changed and he felt we needed to stay in Florida. So we packed up and came BACK to Florida. We are now getting settled back in to our home (which luckily had not sold) and all is well. All in all, We were able to spend an extended vacation with my parents and grandmother and I can't be sorry about that!

Not all of our belongings have made it back home yet, but will shortly. I have been able to set up a makeshift sewing area until the rest of my furniture gets here, so I have been able to steal a couple of moments to sew. Once I get all these boxes out of my way, I should be able to post pictures of what I've been sewing. All three things! I've been a little preoccupied to do much of anything lately.

In other news, my baby boy turned twelve!

Something weird has happened. Last I remember, I was a mom, in my early 30's to two beautiful YOUNG kids and I wore a size 2 jeans. What happened!!!!!????

Where is Kasizzle?

I'm off to start a new adventure!
Posting will be spotty (read: nonexistent if I'm really going to be honest here) in the next few weeks.
But I promise I'll be back soon!
Keep sewing and blogging, I need inspiration. I'm going to need a completely new wardrobe.

It's Not Easy Being Green?

Update: Kate is being argumentative and very sixteen-like. I'd say that means she's feeling better!
When I first saw this pattern, I had no interest in it. The more I saw it the better it looked, and finally I thought I should give it a try.
It's New Look 6729, and boy am I glad I decided to give it a try! I love it.

I used a heavenly rayon jersey from Gorgeous Fabrics.

It's one of those tops that you can wear out to dinner and stuff yourself and it not show. My advise would be to make sure you are wearing expandable pants, too.

I had to alter it some in the shoulders, and it's just a tad loose. So next one will be a size smaller. I think I need a long sleeved version next.
Jeff loves the top, but says green may not be "my color". What do you think?

I'm Wearing My Birthday Suit

Happy Birthday to P. Diddy.
And to me! Although he is a few years younger! I wonder how much we have in common besides sharing the same birthdate?

It's A Wrap

No, I haven't been MIA because I'm crying over the Rays losing the World Series. I was sad for about a minute. But I'm really proud of them.
We'd be here for hours if I were to list all that's been keeping me from posting. Mainly it's because I think my computer caught a virus. Thankfully it was just my computer, nothing else was touched. I had to wipe EVERYTHING out of my computer and start over. My last little bit of frustration is that when I reloaded my iTunes, not everything came back. I'm missing some of my music.
I made this top a little while ago. My first time wearing it wasn't a good experience. I got one of those phone calls that every parent dreads. The one where your teenager has been in a car accident. She'll be fine. She's just going to have to spend some quality time with the TV and the couch. She hates to sit still.
This is New Look 6149 made from a heavy-ish cotton jersey. I threw it on to go to the emergency room and it worked out quite well. It was very comfortable, but truly, I wouldn't have noticed if it wasn't. I just don't remember feeling cold and I'm always cold. I'm not sure I can wear it again without remembering the feeling in the pit of my stomach. The pattern envelope shows 3/4 sleeves, but on me they were full length. I cut a few inches off so mine would be 3/4 sleeves also, but I wish I hadn't. I think I'd like the sleeves longer.
The pattern envelope also shows this being worn without a cami under it. I'll wear some low cut tops, but this one definitely requires something under it.

I don't really like the back view. I think the kimono sleeves make me look more broad than I already am.

We've Got Spirit, Yes We Do

Philadelphia 3- Tampa 2
I figure we lost because we don't have enough team spirit. I'm doing everything I can do to help. The entire city, okay maybe just the baseball fans, are sporting blue mohawks to support the home team. I put my hair up in a quasi-mohawk with lots of pins and rubber bands, but I didn't have clearance from my hairdresser to go blue, so I did the next best thing. I gave the dogs "Rayhawks"!
I actually have 3 completed garments, but have not had time for a "modeling session". If nothing else, I may put them on my dressform and snap a few quick pics.
